Seared Tuna Sashimi

by | May 26, 2023 | Recipes | 0 comments

This seared tuna sashimi recipe is a real treat and so simple to get right. It is absolutely perfect when entertaining and bound to impress. Your guests will be blown away and the cook is quick and easy, leaving you with more time for friends and family.

All you really have to do is dip the tuna in soy sauce and sear but you can add a few of your own touches. I sometimes like to add sesame oil, chilli or ginger to the soy sauce. Tuna is well complimented by a little sweetness so teriyaki or honey also works well.

Once the tuna is seared (max 30 sec each side!) and sliced you can be creative – I love to add spring onions, furikake and Kewpie mayo but the possibilities are endless – fresh rocket and coriander works well plus pickled ginger, shredded nori, Sriracha mayo and sesame seeds.

I serve the tuna with salads and my go to is a slaw with and Asian style dressing – my easy recipe is below the video!

Just be aware that once you’ve made this dish for friends you will ALWAYS be the tuna cook – at every occasion!

RECIPE: Asian dressing for slaw

A light Asian dressing works well on a slaw and compliments the seared tuna sashimi recipe perfectly. There are also soo many variations of this dressing but I made a ginger and sesame dressing with ingredients I had at home

ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp. veg oil (sunflower/peanut/canola)
  • 2 tbsp. lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 2 cloves garlic grushed
  • 1 tbsp. ginger crushed/grated or chopped

Place all your ingredients in a jar, give it a good shake and its ready! The dressing does separate so shake and dress your salad just before serving!
